Activities at Quinta Vale Porcacho - B&B Estate

The dirt tracks between the various villages are a great way of enjoying the scenery and become acquainted with friendly local farmers who work their land. Stopping in one of these small villages you can quench your thirst and truly appreciate the Portuguese culture.  With the Quinta as your starting point, you can choose between a number of routes, long or short, whichever you prefer.

BMX and cycling

The dirt tracks are perfect for our sporty clients. The tarred roads are narrow and steep, but are very good for the experienced cyclist.

The Monte Belo 27 holes golf course is located near Viseu and is a little more than half an hour by car from Quinta Vale Porcacho.

Winemaking and wine tasting

In September our clients are invited to join in the grape harvest and the process of winemaking. On request, we can organize visits to some other acclaimed quintas, like Quinta de Cabriz and Casa de Santar. If you’d prefer to visit smaller regional quintas, we can also arrange this.

Olive picking

At the end of November/beginning of December, our clients can help pick the olives.

The picking is done by canes and by hand. It is hard work but very gratifying.  Especially when the olive oil is bottled after being pressed. A visit to the mill is a true adventure. All the local farmers take their olives to the mill. Most of the olive oil is for personal consumption.

In recent years, our organic olive oil belonged to the highest quality category in Portugal: extra virgin. In our kitchen we exclusively use our own olive oil. If you wish, you can buy the house olive oil for a very reasonable price.

Horseback riding

The hills of the Mondego valley are suitable for horseback riding. Near the Quinta there are several places where you can go riding.
