Activities near estate B&B Quinta Vale Porcacho

Quinta Vale Porcacho is located in a quiet, wooded area with culture and diverse activities within easy reach. Our Quinta is the ideal place to unwind and leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind. Enjoy lounging by our swimming pool , but if you feel active there is also plenty to do on the Quinta and in the area.

Below we give you a small selection of the many possibilities.

Activities on the estate

Picking grapes and wine tastings

n September, our guests are welcome to help with picking the grapes and making the wine. We can organise visits to some renowned wineries such as Cabriz, Casa de Santar and Ribeiro Santo, but if you prefer the smaller regional winegrowers, then we can take care of that as well.

Olive harvest

In November our guests can help pick the olives. The picking is done with sticks and by hand. It is a hard but pleasant job that gives a lot of satisfaction. Especially if the oil is put into the bottles after pressing. A visit to an olive oil press is quite an experience. All small farmers come to the olive press with their olives. Much of the olive oil is still for private use.

In recent years, our organic olive oil has been one of the highest quality categories in Portugal: extra virgin. We also use home produced olive oil in our kitchen. If you are interested, you can buy olive oil from the house at very attractive prices.

Sport activities from Quinta Vale Porcacho

Hiking

Quinta Vale Porcacho is located in a region that is very suitable for the ‘real’ hiker as well as the one who occasionally wants to walk for a day or a few hours. On the unpaved country roads you can enjoy the scenery and the friendly Portuguese farmers who are working on the land. In the small villages you can quench your thirst at cafes and enjoy the Portuguese culture.

There are several opportunities to walk from or in the vicinity of the Quinta. For example, we have a number of described walks (from 1 to 6 hours) available for our guests. Also ,via GPS ,there are quite a few walks available, but there are also government marked walks.

Also in the Serra de Estrela or the Serra do Caramulo there are many possibilities for walking. We are happy to advise you. See also the hiking package.

Mountain biking and road cycling

The unpaved country roads are ideal for the sporty guests who are in good physical condition. The paved roads are generally narrow and steep, but well worth it for the experienced cyclist.

The region of Tabua is very suitable for mountain biking. There are many routes available on GPS. The annual BTT-Tabua , which takes place in May, where routes of 40 to 75 km are cycled is very well known nationally and internationally.

If you are not a very avid cyclist or just want to relax on your bike for a day then the ECO-Pista is a nice day trip. The 49-kilometre cycle path runs along an old railway line from Santa Comba Dao to Viseu. Bike rental is available at the start of the route.

Golf

Golf paradise Monte Belo with 27 holes is more than half an hour drive away by car.

Horse riding

The hilly landscape in the Mondego valley is ideal for horse-riding. In the vicinity there are several possibilities where you can ride a horse. See our page with the packages.

Kayaking / canoeing

Our Quinta is near the Mondego River. This quiet river has its origins in the Serra da Estrela and ends up at Figueira da Foz , flowing into the Atlantic Ocean. An ideal river to discover by kayak or canoe. Our partner Rock and River organises individual canoe/kayak tours, where you can discover the river with the two of you or as a family. You can extend the tour with a lesson in abseiling, led by an expert instructor.
