The region of estate B&B Quinta Vale Porcacho

Quinta Vale Porcacho is located in a quiet, wooded region with cultural and diverse activities within easy reach. Our Quinta is the ideal place to relax and leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind.

Lounging by our swimming pool is one option, but there is more than enough to do in the region to go out or be active. Below we give you a small selection of the many possibilities. They can all be reached within an hour.

Culture

Coimbra is one of the ancient university towns of Europe and the cradle of the fado. Students stroll through the city in their characteristic black capes. We recommend the university with its impressive Joanina library, the botanical garden and the old town center with its small shopping streets and cafes. Conimbriga with its impressive Romanian excavations is close to Coimbra.

Viseu,is a small university town located north of our Quinta. It used to be a hub of trade which is reflected in the richly ornamented merchant houses in the old town.

Buçaco, is an ancient forest designed by the monks with lush vegetation. Under the shade of the huge trees, you can also enjoy a lovely walk in summer.

Figueira da Foz is a charming seaside resort with a beautiful promenade and sandy beaches. Those who like seafood are in the right place. The traditional sea salt extraction just outside Figueira is well worth a visit. On the way to Figueira da Foz, you will pass the Castle of Monte o Mor that dates back to the time of the Romans.

The Serra de Estrela, with its 2000 meters high peaks and its rugged rocks, is a unique mountain range. Small characteristic villages, mountain lakes and reservoirs are scattered throughout the entire region. The Serra da Estrela offers a lot: long walks over the rock-studded slopes, beautiful views, skiing in winter or climbing the seven-metre high tower which suddenly puts you at 2000 meters.

Bobadela used to be a hub for the Romans between northern and southern Portugal. The ruins of the amphitheatre remind us of this time. There is a visitor centre with lots of information and a small museum. Recently opened, there is an olive oil museum in Bobadela that shows in modern architecture how olive oil production has developed over time.

If you would like to take a day trip, but do not feel like doing this on your own, then it is possible to participate in organized day excursions.
If you need help planning your activities or day trip, we are of course there to help you. There are also some very useful apps available to provide you with more information. At our Quinta we also have extensive information.
